TE DEVUELVO TU IMAGEN is a project developed in several stages that includes various operations and occupations. In one of them, Castillo carried out a series of interventions on the walls of vacant lots on the Panamericana Norte (interurban highway) with phrases such as “Señalando nuestros márgenes”, “barren-deserts-wastelands”, among others. This whole process was registered. He enlarged one of the pictures taken and intervened it with the phrase “TE DEVUELVO TU IMAGEN”. He then reproduced it with a modular structure in 21 screen prints that he later installed on the walls of vacant lots in the Américo Vespucio ring road in Santiago.

FRANKENSTEIN consists of a project developed in several stages that includes various operations and occupations carried out between 1995 and 1997. Castillo made a series of these collage images composed from fragments of different faces, of various ethnic groups, which he photographed as slides, which he then used to carry out a series of projections in the public space.

DE LA CIRCULACIÓN DE LAS IMAGES consists of a project that includes various operations and occupations. One of them was an intervention in the Andes Mountain Range, produced by Felipe Ríos as part of his Gabinete project, an eight-chapter documentary series on Chilean contemporaries artists that was exhibited at the Museum of Visual Arts in Santiago, Chile.

CAMPOS DE LUZ is a project that includes various operations and occupations carried out between 2006 and 2011. Castillo made a series of audiovisual records of migrants, whom he invited to relate the feelings of non-belonging or "dislocation" that they experience in front of the place they inhabit. Subsequently, he carried out occupations in Bern, Switzerland and in Pedro Aguirre Cerda, Chile, within the framework of the international project titled Dislocación, curated by Ingrid Wildi Merino and Kathleen Bühler.

RITOS DE PASO is a project that includes various operations and occupations carried out between 2013 and 2015. With the collaboration of René Dávila (audiovisual production), Castillo carried out a series of actions and interventions in the Atacama desert and on Chiloé island, which he then recorded audio visually and photographically. The actions consisted of locating a structure similar to an advertisement in the middle of the landscapes of these extreme geographies with the phrase "Te devuelvo tu imagen" handwritten on cloth, which was later burned, recording the process of combustion and destruction of the object. In both locations, the artist, in turn, recorded interviews with inhabitants of the areas.

Geometría y Misterio de Barrio is a project that includes various operations and occupations carried out between 2000 and 2004. Starting with a four-month residency at Galería Metropolitana, located in the Pedro Aguirre Cerda district (Santiago, Chile), Castillo intervened the neighborhood soccer field, writing quotes from testimonies on the field with chalk and projecting fragments of the interviews and a documentary onto a cloth installed in the goals.

Minimal Barroco is a project that includes various operations and occupations carried out between 2006 and 2011. Castillo carries out a series of interventions with a truck modified to project, in the rear, the audiovisual record of various interviews conducted with local residents. The truck circulated through Fuerteventura, Spain, from sunset to midnight, visiting the most significant places in the city.

GEOMETRÍA EMOCIONAL is a project made up of various operations (screen printing, painting, photography, interventions in public spaces and interviews) and occupations in art spaces and museums (CENTEX Valparaíso, MAC Quinta Normal and the Museum of Memory and Human Rights) carried out between 2020 and 2021. The project includes the audiovisual recording of a series of testimonies of Chilean migrants residing in Sweden of different generations, exiled by the 1973 coup and other more recent coups. At the same time there were a series of interventions occupying enlarged portraits mounted on structures that he later burned; as well as installations with the word 'Virus' and lighted candles that he later composed in diptychs with the portraits of the interviewees.

Assemblage composed of soap, wax, paper and white pigment. The soaps have the image of a newsprint face attached to them and they point to writing in white ink: "Otro Día", in Swedish, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, among others. A layer of wax goes over the portraits, where the writing was placed.

EL COLLAGE SOCIAL. Consists of a idea-force by Juan Castillo that brings together a set of operations and objects from his body of work. In 2016 he collaborated with the Chacón Brigade, intervening in the public space of the city of Santiago. The records, together with graphic pieces, were presented at the Macchina Gallery located on the eastern campus of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, alluding in the title to a text written and published by the artist in 1982.

Castillo recreated the traditional architecture of Chiloé's stilt houses, in wood and on a small scale. On its bases he placed a fundamental text for the country's culture: the volume Relatos de la Conquista from the book La Historia de Chile. He later burned the building, recording the process. Under the remains of the burned structure of the stilt house, he formed an installation made up of a row of potatoes stamped with the phrase “From Chiloé to Grippo”.
